About me

Hi I’m Emily Wheeler, an interiors writer and stylist based in London. I have styled real homes and written about interiors for a wide range of publications including the Telegraph magazine, You, Sunday Times Style, The Guardian Weekend, Stella, Grazia, The Simple Things, Saga magazine, 25 Beautiful Homes, Marie Claire and Red and my book ‘Creative Living London‘ is published by Thames and Hudson.

I trained in interior decoration at the KLC School of Design and I also provide interior design consultancy.

I started this blog in 2009 and I’ve had a little break from writing, while I had two children and completely renovated our first family home from top to bottom. No mean feat while living on site with two small children! I’ll soon be documenting our renovation journey here as well as writing about all things interiors.

I also have a background in social work and I’m interested in well being at home, in how a space makes us feel and how we can create homes that nourish and support us to lead happier, healthier lives. Our home is our sanctuary and I have carefully curated ours to feel safe, calm and soothing – an escape from the madness of the outside world. I believe in buying sustainably, designing biophilically and reusing wherever we can and I have a passion for vintage and Scandinavian interiors, probably because they reflect my need for calm, considered, soulful spaces with lots of light and plenty of natural textures.

At the moment I’m working on launching a little online lifestyle store called Kinship and Kind, selling beautiful vintage and sustainably sourced homewares and I am developing a community project in London called Furnishing Futures, which aims to fully furnish the homes of families experiencing furniture poverty. I want to spread the kindness as far as I can and build a community of stylists and designers who support vulnerable families to live better lives through giving them a safe and comfortable home.

I write about interiors, produce real homes features for magazines and take on private interior design projects with a strong focus on sustainability and vintage pieces.

I hope you’ll find something here that helps you create your own special place called home.

I love collaborating and am always up for having a chat, so if you think you might have an idea that would suit me, please get in touch!

Emily x
