After studying industrial design in New York and furniture-making in Germany, Kenneth Cobonpue went back to his home country, the Philippines, in 1996. Within Inc. Interior Crafts, a company founded by his mother, Kenneth discovered that design could have a new face by combining the use of natural fibers with other mediums. By integrating locally-sourced organic materials with innovative production techniques, Kenneth Cobonpue offers a new perspective to Western design. I am always interested to discover new designers who work with organic, natural or recycled materials as it is so important to be conscious of the impact of design on our environment and eco system.
Voyage is ‘a gentle invitation to dream’, according to Kids Love Design. With its round shape and subtle mix of tradition and modernity, the cradle forms an ideal nest for a new baby. Made in hand-woven rattan tied with transparent nylon filament on a handmade light steal frame, this cocoon is the result of traditional craftsmanship combined with the use of innovative technologies.
